Greetings!
We send our warmest mid-winter thoughts with the hope that you are all enjoying some cozy times, possibly curled up with a great book from the library!
We would like to share with you that the Friends group's most recent purchase to support enhancements to the library was a free-standing charging station. It can accommodate both phones and laptops and we hope it will be useful not only during power-outages but as an everyday convenience for library patrons. The only other library to have this convenience is the Main Library. We at the Sussex-Wantage branch are very fortunate to have the commitment of so many devoted volunteers whose work enables us to continue to raise funds for such extras. We ❤️ our volunteers!
Speaking of love, this month's Book Sale is taking place on Valentine's Day, Saturday the 14th. Please stop by to say "Hi" and check out the latest offerings. We will be entertaining visitors from 9:30 - 2:30. We look forward to the possibility of seeing you!
Do you know someone who is shut-in this winter? The Friends offers free homebound delivery services to all residents of Sussex, Wantage, Branchville, Frankford and Lafayette. Just call the branch at 973-875-3940 to request this benefit.
This Sunday, February 8th at 2pm, there will be a program on "Skiing History in Sussex County", presented by Liz Holste. Then on the 22nd, also at 2pm on a Sunday, Harmony in Motion, an all women a cappella group, will be presenting a Valentine's Concert. Please, mark your calendars as you will not want to miss these exciting programs.
Also, consider coming to the Senior Café, February 18th at 12:30, for fun and good company.
Please know that our thanks go out to the Daughters of the American Republic who have installed a display in our lobby case highlighting the 250th anniversary of the founding of our republic. It will be available for viewing until the end of February.

A final thought on volunteers. Although the landscape is fairly bleak right now on your next trip to the library please take a moment to pause and look above the door of the main entrance to the library. Here you will find a beautiful and colorful depiction of our Sussex County landscape done in stained glass. This was installed in 2011 as a memorial to the long-standing commitment of one Muriel Robertson. She joined the 1994 call for help when the idea of the Friends was first proposed. A large part of the impetus for the formation of the Friends was the need for a modern building to house a modern library. It took an amazing amount of perseverance to get the current building approved, funded, and up and running. Working diligently, Muriel was right there every moment of the way and continued on even after it was all settled. In fact, she volunteered until her passing in 2010 at the age of 88. Muriel's example clearly shows us that you are never too old to have something to offer! Even after death the library benefitted as her memory was honored by gifts in her name to the Friends.
