This is the Fall 2024 newsletter Posted November 3, 2024 |
Dear Friends and Members of the Sussex-Wantage FOL,
This season we offer warm greetings to our FOL Members and thank you for your continued support! Isn't it incredible what a jewel of a place our library is here in the heart of Wantage, NJ? The ambiance is always one of welcome. Physically, the building is immaculately maintained, seasonally decorated, inviting and comfortable.
There are opportunities to borrow books, magazines, and music as well as multiple types of devices which can be utilized. A newer feature is an extensive Library of Things (look under the heading Access Your Library on the library webpage). You can even send documents from your own computer (at home or brought to the library) to be printed...no need to keep a printer at home anymore! Most programs are free (sometimes there is a materials fee) and the diversity of programming offered is truly outstanding. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly - being perhaps the greatest asset of all. We ❤️ Our Library! We exist to give it support in whatever ways we are able and to continue to create a sense of belonging for the folks within our community.
We are all a part of this wonderful place - let's continue to enjoy a peaceful and inspiring atmosphere in our home library. Following, please find some more extensive information on what we do.
Best,
Amy
The Friends have been active these past months with book sales, concerts, programs and library support, and we plan to continue into 2025.
We greatly appreciate all our members, and we hope you will continue to support the Friends and our library by continuing your membership or join as a new member. Annual memberships run from June 1st through May 31st. We wouldn’t exist without your support, so thank you!
Book Sales: Book sales are held on the second Saturday of each month from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm in the Sussex-Wantage library community room. All genres of literature (with the exception of textbooks and magazines) are sold along with puzzles, board games, DVD’s, cd’s, and some “special “ books. Most items cost no more than a dollar. All monies made are spent on programs for the community and for library expenses not covered by the County. Please contact the circulation desk at the library for donations to our book sales. We look forward to seeing you on the second Saturday of the month!
Programs: Over the past months, we have been able to sponsor many events including our popular summer Amphitheater Concerts, chair yoga classes, and several indoor musical programs. We look forward to sponsoring more exciting events and concerts in the coming months! Please check our website and our Facebook page for more information. A program poster is on the Friend's table in the library lobby, and posters are always posted on The FOL bulletin board!

- Chair yoga is an ongoing program presented by the FOL. We meet in the community room at 10:00 am on Wednesday. Donations are happily accepted.
The Friends have also continued to support our library in several ways that are not covered in the library’s budget. We purchased supplies for the Summer Reading Program, and purchased a free pass to Storm King Art Center for patron use. Library visitors continue to enjoy our display case, which showcases local topics of interest. The Gift Book Program allows an opportunity to donate money for books in memory or honor of a loved one. The Homebound Program is available to deliver library materials to those who cannot come to the library in person. An appreciation luncheon was provided for our hard-working library staff.
All of these purchases and programs are only possible through the help of many who volunteer their time and energy, as well as through the money we receive from our membership. If you are interested in volunteering, we could use your help! Please indicate your interest on the membership form or see one of our volunteers at a program or event.
Membership forms may be mailed or brought to the library during regular hours. You may also renew your membership online on our website. We thank all our wonderful members for your support, and hope we can count on you to renew. We would love to see you at our programs and activities as well!
