The Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library was formed in 1994 to provide community support for the Sussex-Wantage Library. We also had a special mission to advocate for a new and larger library for the growing Sussex-Wantage community. On September 12, 2003, our dream
became a reality as we dedicated the new Sussex-Wantage Branch Library at McCoy’s Corner in Wantage. Today, the Sussex-Wantage Library is a wonderful resource for the local community and all of Sussex County as a branch of the Sussex County Library System.
Now in our third decade, the Friends of the Sussex-Wantage Library continues to thrive as a vital community organization. We support the library in many ways, including:
- Programs for all ages
- Furniture, equipment, and special items to enhance the library
- Used book sales
- Gift Book Program
- Book delivery service & audio-visual lending closet for the home bound of Sussex & Wantage
- An outdoor amphitheater built by the Friends with a bequest from Agnes Keifer Philblad
- Display case featuring monthly exhibits of Sussex-Wantage historical memorabilia
- Financial support to enhance the library’s Summer Reading Club
